"If there’s a world here in a hundred years, it’s going to be saved by tens of millions of little things. The powers-that-be can break up any big thing they want. They can corrupt it or co-opt it from the inside, or they can attack it from the outside. But what are they going to do about 10 million little things? They break up two of them, and three more like them spring up!"

Extended a Friendly Hand

The project:
Offer good wishes and words of support to teen athletes.

Time:
40 minutes

Why bother?
This used to be my team. This year they were coached by someone else, but many of these spectacular teens will always be in my heart. Today was their league meet.

Worth it?
Absolutely. It was great to see the kids' smiles and hear about the latest news in their lives, ease their concerns as they entered what, for many of them, would be the last meet of their season. It was nice to see some of my coaching friends on deck, too. And while I wasn't involved in this season, being here still helped me get a little closer to letting this season go.
