"If there’s a world here in a hundred years, it’s going to be saved by tens of millions of little things. The powers-that-be can break up any big thing they want. They can corrupt it or co-opt it from the inside, or they can attack it from the outside. But what are they going to do about 10 million little things? They break up two of them, and three more like them spring up!"

Trash, trash everywhere

The project:
Pick up trash in the neighborhood, at the shopping center, in front of restaurant and desert shop.

Time:
Minutes

Why bother?
It was there, just as it was on any of these occasions.

Worth it?
This seems to be the easiest, most assured way of lending my community a helping hand. There seems to be no shortage of trash pickup opportunities. (How sad.)

  1. I love it! In Finland where I am originally from, they have a movement where they challenge people to commit to picking up one piece of trash per day. I think their project in English is called "Litter movement" if you want to google it.

  2. I'll check it out! I wonder if the movement has made any difference in the Finnish landscape. Just imagine, if we ALL picked up a little trash (beyond our own) every day....

    Ahhh..that feels good!

    Thanks, Sirpa!
